BIOGRAPHY

keith leff top hat Keith, born in April of 1969, is a native of the Kansas City area and was fortunate enough to have a magician living next door to him at his grandmother's house were he spent much of his time growing up. Believe it or not, he also had a magician who lived next door to his mother's house as well. Keith Leff's magical journey started at age seven when he received a "Hat full of Magic" kit for Christmas. After he opened the magical gift, the rest of the unwrapped presents remained untouched for quite a while.

He did his first paid performance for his junior high school science teacher, a birthday party for his teacher's son. In June of 2000, Keith was honored by winning the Close-Up Magician of the Year contest, a competition and banquet held annually by an organization of which he is also an elite member, the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Keith is a member of the Kansas City chapter Ring 129, and was inducted in an Honorary Society within the local Ring, the Sorcerer's Circle for his outstanding contributions to magic and the community in which he lives. Keith is also a Past President of the Society of American Magicians, Local Assembly 38 in Kansas City.

He also earned his way through college, paying for his education performing magic as a 'magical bartender.' Keith earned B.S. in Mass Communications and Public Relations, with a minor in Human Ecology. He then went on to work for Sprint in the Marketing Department for five years before starting his own business, Magicreations, where performs as a the most sought after professional entertainer in his area.

Keith has appeared on numerous television news shows and has been featured in several local newspapers and magazine features. He can be seen at local restaurants, corporate and trade shows, company picnics, fairs and festivals, hospitality suites, fund raisers, sales meetings, kid show birthday parties wedding receptions numerous other private engagements and virtually any and all other types of venues one could imagine.

His sense of giving back what magic has given him is evident in the various charities he is involved with. He has been a regular weekly volunteer at Children's Mercy South, performing magic for sick children. Keith says there is no greater reward for him than taking an ill child's mind off their condition. "Inspiring a sense of wonder and making a child smile and laugh, even if only for a moment, is what it's all about," he says.

He is also active with a different program at different hospitals in which he helps physical therapy patients get better. The program is called, 'The Healing of Magic,' and is designed to have volunteer magicians work with physical therapists and patients to aid in the process of rehabilitation. Therapists and patients not only get to see magic, but are also taught the secrets of the tricks so that they are able to do the effects themselves with practice. Keith says patients can be in a lot of pain and not want to do their exercises in order to recover. He says by teaching them magic, they have more motivation to do the "work," because the therapy becomes fun and exciting. Keith says after a few weeks everyone gets together and puts on a special magic show. He says the experience is priceless.

Anyone who has had the privilege of seeing Keith and his mystifying personality create spectacular magic will tell you, it is like nothing they have ever seen or experienced. And for people who have yet to have the honor of crossing paths with this funny and clever guy, well, you are in for a very special and rare treat you will not soon forget.
